Best purse for a 13 year old?

Tomorrow I'm going shopping for a cute purse for school. (I'll be in 8th grade) I'm debating Vera Bradley and Kathy van zeeland. Kathys somewhat popular but I never see any Vera at my school. Is Kathy van zeeland too big for a 13 year old? I feel like Vera bradley is good for public, but at school it might come across as old ladyish? What do you think?
