How long is this gonna last with the Rays?

As a Yankees fan, all my life I have this thing with the Redsox. When we play them, it's not a normal series. I'm extra fired up. And just hearing the name "Redsox" would get a reaction of disdain from me. It would tug at my strings a little, and I'd be like "ugh Redsox...disgusting". I mean they got my attention. They weren't just another team. Now the Rays on the other hand, they were just another team...WERE. Now, although I still have those same feelings for the Redsox, it's starting with the Rays now too. I'm alway spumped up to play them I'm beginning to feel dislike for them. Now it may sound like I'm dissing the Rays, but it's actually a sign of respect. I expect the Yankees to be on top. So I don't waste time caring about bottom dwelling teams. If I don't like a team, it means they're good. It means they are legit competition. The fact that I suddenly consider the Rays an arch-rival is a testament to how good they are these days. And I really hope they succeed...to an extent of course. I like having them around. It's good for the game. But i have to wonder; can a small market team like the Rays hang arund for awhile? Will the Rays continue to compete and remain a rival for years to come, or will they fade back into obscurity and leave me with just the Redsox to have that hate/respect thing with?
