In 1998 Lord Chancellor 'Irvine' sat on a judicial committee. Had that happened in the recent past?

It was accepted practice that Lord Chancellors don't take part in judicial proceedings, but Blairs (effective) appointee (Irvine) did. Were there any similar 'sittings' by a LC in the recent past?
